Ethical Sourcing of Argan Oil
In 2008 L’Oréal joined forces with argan pickers in Morocco to extract argan oil under fair trade conditions with respect for biodiversity. The argan cake, the residue from the oil extraction, used to be discarded, but now is used for its proteins with anti-wrinkle properties. The sourcing program is focused on paying wages above the fair minimum standards, providing training and educational opportunities, empowering the women’s workforce and conserving the argan forest.
